Happenings from 2006 worth archiving

01.25.08 monica and lenny’s Greater Expectations

Hey! I went to Maryland to photograph Monica and Lenny who are expecting their first child. Very exciting! We are actually doing a series from Pregnancy until the baby turns one year old. This is one of the options in my Fearfully, Wonderfully collection. So anyway, I get there look around the house for cool spots for portraits while Monica gets her makeup done. Her friend Ja Nina is a professional makeup artist in NYC who does great work for individual clients and for film, television, and print. Here are some of my faves!

Times Square Church Wedding

08.19.06 Angela + Aaron

::so now I’m resuming my archiving of Weddings and Portraits from 2006::
Angela and Aaron met with me in the fall of 2005. On that evening I got stuck in the elevator while they waited and prayed for me.
On their wedding day, Angela was dressed and ready for her portraits when I arrived because she wanted plenty of time for portraits. Aaron also had some cool ideas for his portrait time. Overall many tears were cried, the day was very fun, and everything went extremely fast.

08.11.06 katrina and jon engaged

This was my second Engagement Session that day and I had to go all the way from upper Manhattan down to TriBeCa. It was worth it. As I was sitting there setting my camera and catching my breath I saw these two tall, skinny people waving at me. “It’s Katrina and Jon!” I’d met Katrina before but not Jon because he had been super busy studying for the bar exam (which he passed of course). So we went from TriBeCa, to the Pier, to SoHo taking a variety of images. Here are some of my favorites.

08.11.06 heather and jay engaged

Heather and Jay wanted to go to this really interesting park in upper Manhattan called Fort Tryon. It’s one of their favorite places to go AND it’s where Jay proposed to Heather! I had never even heard of it–but it’s near the cloisters. It had lots of cool architecture and walkways and we just worked freestyle throughout the park. Since both Heather and Jay are professional actors, they were naturally comfortable in front of a camera. Here’s some of what we got…..

Wedding at JW Marriott

08.05.06 Monica + Lenny

Finally Monica and Lenny’s wedding in DC! I came the day before to get situated and go to the rehearsal and dinner. It was just beautiful. The bridesmaids wore a really cute style in a pale, warm pink. They even had their own parasols! (I love doing portraits with interesting elements) I always like to try something new at each wedding and this time it was a group portrait of the family and bridal party taken from a balcony. We’d spied this out when Monica and I went to visit the reception site, The JW Marriott, in July after her bridal portraits. It really paid off because we also found a cool spot to do Monica and Lenny’s romantic portraits. From the rehearsal right through to the end of the reception, I could feel how much these two were loved……

04.29.06 Hanna and Jessie (and Baby!)

Over the last couple of years people have asked me about the couple on my website who were literally crowned on their wedding day. Well, here they are as expectant parents! Yep, the baby is soon due, but they really wanted to capture the unique season of expecting their very first offspring. It was cool for me because I’ve gotten to know both Hanna and Jessie and can easily see them as kind, loving parents. Of course Hanna and I spent a lot of time just laughing because I kept making her make this one really silly face (thankfully not posted here)!

03.22.06 THIS is Hazel!

Yes, THAT Hazel! Graphic Artist Extraordinaire. She is also, thankfully, MY Graphic Artist. (Thank you Hazel for EVERYTHING!!)When wendy g photography was still a fledgling upstart, Hazel created my logo, icon, business cards, and stationery wardrobe. She was also the genius who designed that really cool postcard from 2005/6. She’s been great on other projects for my clients as well. So anyway, Hazel was featured in a magazine last year and asked me to create a series of portraits that the magazine could use. I was more than happy to help! I’ve gotten to know how sweet and talented Hazel is and I wanted the readers to see some of what I see in her. This is Hazel. :-)
