Times Square Church Wedding

08.19.06 Angela + Aaron

::so now I’m resuming my archiving of Weddings and Portraits from 2006::
Angela and Aaron met with me in the fall of 2005. On that evening I got stuck in the elevator while they waited and prayed for me.
On their wedding day, Angela was dressed and ready for her portraits when I arrived because she wanted plenty of time for portraits. Aaron also had some cool ideas for his portrait time. Overall many tears were cried, the day was very fun, and everything went extremely fast.

08.11.06 katrina and jon engaged

This was my second Engagement Session that day and I had to go all the way from upper Manhattan down to TriBeCa. It was worth it. As I was sitting there setting my camera and catching my breath I saw these two tall, skinny people waving at me. “It’s Katrina and Jon!” I’d met Katrina before but not Jon because he had been super busy studying for the bar exam (which he passed of course). So we went from TriBeCa, to the Pier, to SoHo taking a variety of images. Here are some of my favorites.

08.11.06 heather and jay engaged

Heather and Jay wanted to go to this really interesting park in upper Manhattan called Fort Tryon. It’s one of their favorite places to go AND it’s where Jay proposed to Heather! I had never even heard of it–but it’s near the cloisters. It had lots of cool architecture and walkways and we just worked freestyle throughout the park. Since both Heather and Jay are professional actors, they were naturally comfortable in front of a camera. Here’s some of what we got…..

Wedding at JW Marriott

08.05.06 Monica + Lenny

Finally Monica and Lenny’s wedding in DC! I came the day before to get situated and go to the rehearsal and dinner. It was just beautiful. The bridesmaids wore a really cute style in a pale, warm pink. They even had their own parasols! (I love doing portraits with interesting elements) I always like to try something new at each wedding and this time it was a group portrait of the family and bridal party taken from a balcony. We’d spied this out when Monica and I went to visit the reception site, The JW Marriott, in July after her bridal portraits. It really paid off because we also found a cool spot to do Monica and Lenny’s romantic portraits. From the rehearsal right through to the end of the reception, I could feel how much these two were loved……

07.30.06 katie and anthony

Okay, today is the big day and Katie is cuter than ever! She has so much natural drama–she inspires on her personality alone. One of the coolest tributes was that her maid of honor was Anthony’s sister; and the Best Man was Katie’s brother. And they’re for real about it! They really are Katie and Anthony’s best friends! Usually during the ceremony I don’t remember too, too much about the music; but this one was different…… As soon as I heard the opening lyrics, my heart skipped! “I the LORD of sea and sky, I have heard my people’s cry…..” I love this song! So anyway the rest of the day was very fun and there were plenty of laughs. As I had previously said, Katie has the most amazing facial expressions……

07.15.06 Monica’s Bridal Portraits

This is Monica, Lenny’s Monica. But this time there’s no Lenny because these are her special Bridal Portraits. I’d never done this before but it was really important to Monica and I like to be challenged and experiment with new things. Monica liked the experimental approach anyway so we were perfect for each other. My style isn’t the overly-controlled, studio look, so we decided on my mom’s living room and deck. Check it out!

Highland Country Club Wedding

07.08.06 Ana + Rob

Ana and Rob, after months of planning are about to get married. Everything was lovely… even the way Ana’s parents’ house was decorated during the preparation time. When we had our Engagement Session in May, Ana wore high heels after I had mentioned something about comfortable shoes. Well, apparently she NEVER wears hight heels–mostly flip flops! She did opt for some cute white sandals for the wedding day though. After a touching ceremony (where there was much singing!) the reception was at The Highlands Country Club. It was so beautiful!
