Music plays a huge role in my life. Not only do I have the privilege of singing with the Times Square Church choir, but I’m constantly listening to or singing music. All day long. And stylistically I like almost everything! Lyrically, I go for whatever is truthful about me, about God. Currently I’m listening to a playlist on my iPod that includes DC Talk, Donnie McClurkin, Kieth Green, Andrea Crouch, The Mississippi Mass Choir, Terry MacAlmon, Shirley Caesar, Darlene Zschech, Tommy Walker, Maranatha, Robin Mark, Kurt Carr, Mercy Me, Isreal, Misty Edwards, Minister Thomas Whitfield’s Choir, Vineyard and some more! Yeah, eclectic.
So last night at The Gate I heard a song that haunted me so much so, that I bought it from iTunes sometime in the middle of the night. Here it is–(a fan’s video since the band doesn’t have a music video out yet).
By Your Side from Tenth Avenue North
The part that haunts me so:
“Look at these hands, and My side.
They swallowed the grave on that night.
When I drank the world’s sin,
So I could carry you in.
And give you life.
I want to give you life.”
wow!
