Saddened

I just found out about Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett’s deaths. I used to be fans of them both, especially Michael. He was so ubiquitous…… at a recent wedding I commented that it seems like every DJ plays Michael’s music…… and all the guests love it! Who doesn’t know his songs? Thriller, Ebony and Ivory, We Are The World, I’ll Be There……. Maybe somebody on the other side of the moon. And Farrah was extremely famous. People refer to them both as “icons”; but what’s an icon anyway? A representative symbol of something……. So what do these guys represent?

It’s so sad when celebrities (those people that we celebrate) are hounded by tragedy. Life-controlling habits, excessive dieting, performance-enhancing substances, divorce, drunk driving, infidelity, estrangement from family, stalkers, financial mismanagement, depression, suicide, excessive plastic surgery, legal problems…… How painful! Being a celebrity could be considered bad for one’s health.

I’m just praying for Michael and Farrah’s families and fans.
