I was glad when they said unto me,

“Let us go into the house of The Lord.”
Psalm 22

As some of you know, I’ve been doing a photography project with the Times Square Church Music Ministry. It includes the choirs, the staff, and “behind-the-scenes” activity. Since I sing in the APC choir, it’s been such a fun honor to document some of the music ministry activities that are not often seen. Worshiping God is so much more than singing! Here are a few highlights in this slideshow.

Wedding at The Bethwood

05.24.08 Shekhinah + Derrick

What a whirlwind! These two were college sweethearts and married in a beautiful garden ceremony at The Bethwood. There were many, many tears of joy; even I cried at one point and I didn’t even know them until recently! But everything came together for them on this day. Flowers, hair, makeup, timing,…… no good thing was withheld. Apparently they started out just as friends at Cornell. Shekhinah said that she followed Derrick around freshman year until he realized that they were dating “and now I can follow you around the rest of our life.” How sweet! Everyone was so happy…… me too! :-)

05.19.08 Monique + Stan Engaged

We had so much fun! Monique and Stan are like Yin and Yang (don’t know which one is yin and which one is yang). They are the perfect counterparts for each other. Monique is like “free-style” and Stan is like “I don’t play”. But they’re both so sweet! I’m amazed yet again at how much there is to see in Central Park. Since I don’t hail from NY, there’s still much that surprises me. I can tell that their wedding day this fall is gonna be fun and full of delight…… ;-)

05.17.08 Drew + Angela Engaged

Thanks to Drew and Angela, I found some awesome views within Central Park! They got engaged on a little vantage point near Belvedere Castle. I’d never been there before–it’s so cute! We had a lot of fun going to some other classic Central Park locations as well. It was great too that they wanted to go to CP because their wedding will be in midtown, so these engagement portraits will have a totally different look. I like mixing it up! ;-) Can’t wait until the wedding! Coming Soon……

05.17.08 Hwa + Jin Engaged

This was “The Little E-Session That Could”! After having to reschedule about 4 times we finally got together! Patience + Perseverance = Just Right. As we meandered around Central Park, we discovered some cool little areas. One place reminded me of “The Secret Garden” and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. And Hwa and I have something interesting in common–I sing in my church’s choir (Times Square Church) and she sang in the gospel choir at her college, Amherst. How sweet is that?! Here are some of my faves. All the monotone just worked for me….dunno why….

05.14.08 Shekhinah + Derrick Engaged

At last, Shekhinah and Derrick are getting married! We did these very romantic engagement portraits at a park near their office. We had a really good time and I was amazed at how relaxed in front of the camera these two were. And I loved Shekhinah’s red heels–I really see shoes as “functional pieces of art”. Here are a few of my favorites. Their wedding is coming up soon, so “Look Out!” ;-)

The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers Wedding

05.11.08 Yasuyo + Akash

So Yasuyo and Akash just got married! It was such a pleasure working with them. AND they’re both creative and have a strong visual sensibility. Their wedding was at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers (another Abigail Kirsch venue). It was really cool the way they subtly used both Japanese and Indian accents throughout. The flowers, the paper cranes, the food, the colors, etc. As a part of their package they added a “photo-booth” option. It was officially a first for me–the only thing close was using cool printed cloth in the past. This time I used a roll of seamless paper and lights. I purposely used narrow seamless to force the people into a small space and let them make all the silly faces they wanted! It was hilarious! Yasuyo’s hair was done by Djinn Ajrim and her makeup artist was Affan Malik. Both of these creative dudes stayed for our after ceremony portraits and even helped Yasuyo with the right hair and makeup for when she changed into her beautiful kimono. Now that’s dedication! Their band, Jerry Kravat Orchestras, produced just the right blend of tunes for the reception. And they have a very sweet, effortless vocal style. They even learned a song just for Yasuyo and Akash–U2’s “All I Want Is You”. All the proofs will be online under “private galleries” in 4-6 weeks (use the password that you received). But for now, here are a few……
