What are your fave books?

Ever since high school I’ve kept an ongoing mental list of my favorite books. The list has very slowly grown. Half of these are biographical in nature but extremely well-written!

So here’s my general list, in no special order:

A Separate Peace by John Knowles
This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
To Be Young, Gifted, and Black by Lorraine Hansberry
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
The Color of Water by James McBride
Part of My Soul Went With Him by Winnie Mandela
Paris to The Moon by Adam Gopnik
Black Boy by Richard Wright
Bel Canto by Ann Patchett

These next are my all-time favorite inspirational, Christian books. I consider these to be “must-haves”!

Let Me Be a Woman by Elisabeth Elliot
These Strange Ashes by Elisabeth Elliot
The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozier
Sit, Walk, Stand by Watchman Nee
The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis
Humility by Andrew Murray
My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers
The Mystery of Marriage by Mike Mason
The Christian Employee by Robert Mattox
The Bondage Breaker by Neil T. Anderson
If by Amy Carmichael
A Chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael by Elisabeth Elliot
The Cross and The Switchblade by David Wilkerson
And The Bible (of course!!) this is where I find out all that I need to know……

Can you share some of your favorites? I’d love to hear! If I pick yours, I’ll feature a little something about you on my blog in April!

New Computer

Last week, my beloved 3 1/2 year old mac finally said, “No”. It had been getting slower and slower to process RAW files, do album layouts, upload online galleries, upload images to my server, FTP files to my lab, etc, etc…… The RAM and hard drive space were just totally maxed out. When it said “No” last Friday, it really meant it! It deleted about 25 hours of design work! Aaahhh!! Oh yeah, all of the original files remained in tack on my external hard drive. But my album layout needed to be designed all over again! I almost cried. But by God’s grace I was able to buy a new computer instead! It’s great! I can hardly believe it’s mine. Now I’ve spent the last few days uploading photoshop and photojunction (my absolutely most important pieces of software); calibrating my monitor; researching FTP programs (have been using fetch but will try a better one); configuring my various email accounts; setting up firefox, my preferred browser, and on and on. I’d forgotten how much work I’d already put into making my previous computer truly “mine” with everything just right for me. So today I have to re-load all my favorite photoshop actions and order new test prints!
Yea!!
