Blog Heaven

Hey! Happy New Year! 2007 for me was amazing, and humbling, and fun, and surprising, and challenging, and faith-building, a lot of work, and it went really quick! I’m so excited for what 2008 will become. I have some really cool plans already but the surprises tend to be the most memorable.

I went so fast through 2007 that some of my portraits and weddings never got blogged about! My clients are so gracious, none of them said, “Hey! Where’s my blog entry!?” Well, before 2008 comes and sends those entries to Blog Heaven…. the next few entries highlight more of my amazing clients from 2007!

Happy New Year and God Bless You!

09.13.07 lori & mischa engaged

Lori and Mischa hired me fairly close to their wedding but we lost no time in doing their Engagement Session. It was fun shooting in my own neighborhood and helped me appreciate lots of cool stuff that I ordinarily don’t notice. They seemed quite comfortable being photographed which I thought was awesome considering this was our first time meeting in person. Like me, they too sing in their church choir, at Brooklyn Tabernacle. Everyone’s heard of Brooklyn Tab, right? I actually had some of their CD’s years ago, right after I moved to NY.

Liberty House Restaurant Wedding

09.21.07 Lori + Mischa

So here we are! Lori and Mischa’s big day! It was such a glorious occasion I felt really special that I got to even BE there! It was just very exciting for me….. especially watching their family whoop it up with their CCC church family (Christian Cultural Center)! They got married at the Liberty House Restaurant where Kristin and Ben were also married. What’s nice about being a wedding photographer is seeing how a space can be so uniquely transformed by each individual couple. It looked spectacular! The lighting, the floral arrangements, the cake, even the food “looked” good! But nothing looked better than Lori–she was simply GLAM! And I learned a lot from Lori and Mischa as I observed them interact with their family and friends. They do everything knowing that God is loving and sovereign. Can’t wait to hang out with you two some more! xoxo wendy

12.29.07 sunny & sam engaged

Today was another great reason to be a wedding photographer! I got to see a totally different part of New York. I had recently been looking at some photos taken out west in the Rockies and decided I’d like to go and see that part of the country. I really like the look and the light of “big sky” and open land….. So on our way to Lake Minnewaska Park, I was seeing my wish come true! I had no idea such gorgeous landscape was right here in NY. Sunny and Sam really wanted to go to this place because this mountainous park is the scene of their marriage proposal! We walked and climbed and wound our way around the lake to the exact spot where Sam asked Sunny to marry him. It was very romantic and very beautiful. After that (it was freezing cold up there!) we went to the nearby town–New Paltz for a few more images. Then another nice surprise—we were invited to take some images inside a photographer’s gallery! His name is Kevin Van Buren and he specializes beautiful Images of Nature, Landscapes, and Archetecture. All in all it was really fun hanging out with Sunny and Sam up in Ulster County!

12.22.07 patience and christian

This is Patience and Christian’s time for Engagement Portraits! I like the way their names go together—Christian Patience. How cool is that? One of the three of us was a bit cold on this afternoon so we went indoors to one of my favorite stores–The Apple Store on 5th Avenue! This place is open 24/7 but on this day (the last Saturday before Christmas) it was completely packed. There was even a line just to get inside the place! I introduced them to the iPod and now they’re talking about getting one soon. We tried to make our way down 5th Avenue but the crowds were crushing! Does this mean the economy’s getting better? Hmmmm….. Not sure.

12.21.07 belinda and tyrone engaged

Hey! I’ll be Belinda and Tyrone’s wedding photographer in the Dominican Republic next year! I’m so excited! I’ve never been to DR before but hear that it’s absolutely beautiful. Since the wedding will be in such warm weather, we decided to do these Engagement portraits during the winter. It wasn’t totally cold outside until the sun went down…… Then it was really cold and windy. But I like doing portraits in the winter!! ;-)
