Fine Art

I was so honored at Ria and Sam’s wedding when Ria thanked various people. She even thanked all the professionals that she hired to handle various facets of the wedding day. She thanked me and my assistant Jen and said that she was honored to be the subject of my art. Wow! I like to think of what I do as art. I see so much art all around me at each wedding. I work really hard to artistically capture what’s happening and then pull it all together in a beautiful album. Some of these are images that were available for sale at the benefit for Artists Loving the LORD at the Grace Portico Teahouse in Chinatown. Most are from weddings or were done while on vacation in San Francisco this past spring. These are available as loose prints, or matted, or mounted, or matted and framed. I hope to continue adding to this collection. Enjoy!

06.24.07 ria and samuel

Ria and Sam’s wedding day was very tranquil as they are both very gentle, soft-spoken people. That does not mean boring! Everyone was so visibly moved by Ria and Sam finally getting married–I could tell that they are loved by those who know them. There were many tears of joy all day long. It was a beautiful day outside as well as inside. The decorations and flowers worked so well together; the warm orange tones complemented the hardwood floors and ceilings. The food, by Ossie Christine’s, was DE-licious! Just repeat after me: “Collard Greens are yummy!” I’m also very pleased that we had ample time to do the kind of portraits that Ria and Sam really wanted on their wedding day. Here’s just a sampling. Congratulations!

Wedding at Oyster Point Hotel

06.16.07 Lisa + Ray

So finally Lisa and Ray get married! It was a pretty special day. And another first for me–riding around with the Bridal Party in a fully loaded, old-school RV! That’s right! Ray’s family has always owned an RV; so it was the perfect limo. It was carpeted, had wood paneling, and said “Four Winds” on the side. The wedding was at Ray’s home church, New Life Presbyterian Church, and performed by their good friend Reverend Kenneth. The ceremony included Lisa and Ray weaving a three-fold cord symbolizing their dependence on Christ in their marriage. Lisa had opted for “a little black dress” for all the ‘maids which looked awesome and allowed each one to find the style just right for her. Grace and Cameron did the same thing for their wedding but the ‘maids wore pink. I think this is the wave of the future. They got dressed at the Molly Pitcher Inn and had the reception next door at the Oyster Point Hotel. Below are a few of my favorites.
“A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:12 I wholeheartedly AGREE!! :-)

Hangin’ with Miss Lisa (and Mr. Ray)

These two just got married (stay tuned for a few teasers later this week!). But a few weeks ago I went with them to see the church and reception venue. It was a lot of fun! First we pick up Lisa who just got her hair done as the practice before the wedding. Then we go to the church where Ray grew up. After that we pick up one of the groomsmen and then to the reception venue.

Behind Ray is the window that they hoisted me up to! I’m not kidding! Ray learned how to carry a wounded soldier in the military somehow creating a “seat” with two peoples’ arms. So using that maneuver they hoisted me up to this window but I still couldn’t see inside (too bright outside and too dim inside). But I was able to get a good peak through the mail slot on the front door.

Because we were all wearing shoes like these–flip flops–we were denied service at a restaurant I won’t mention here by name. ;-)
11
Ray likes this picture of himself…..
12
This is Lisa, Ray, and their good friend and groomsman Ian. We think we’ll take a photograph on this staircase on the wedding day. But did we? Hmmmm……..
13
Apparently this is a very typical Lisa face. She’s trying to decide what to order for lunch. As I recall, she ended up ordering the tastiest thing on the menu.
14
This is Ray. Wearing a grin as usual.
15
And this is Ian (not to be confused with another Ian who was also a groomsmen….)

17
After our delicious lunch we had to go to Cold Stone Creamery, right?

Thus ends my odyssey of a day; hangin’ with Miss Lisa……..

Ever prayed all night?

I did—once. It was awesome! So awesome that I decided to have my own all-night prayer meeting by myself. I only lasted until 2 am; and it was still wonderful ;-) . Tonight at Times Square Church there will be an all-night prayer meeting from 11pm until 5:30 am on Saturday. The two main concerns are the upcoming outreach to Burundi and pastors’ meetings in Uruguay. There’ll be 5 one-hour blocks each dedicated to some specific need. During each block of time there will be some praise and worship, a brief video highlighting the prayer needs, a brief message from one of our pastors, and then followed by corporate prayer.
If you’d like to join in but can’t physically attend, here’s the basic schedule:

11-12mn–Prayer for Pastors’ Conference in Uruguay with Pastors David and Gary Wilkerson
12-1am–Prayer for the evangelistic rallies in Burundi
1-2am–Prayer for the women’s conference, various outreaches, and medical clinics in Burundi
2-3am–break for refreshments
3-4am–Prayer for youth outreaches in Burundi
4-5am–Prayer for the churches and the Pastors’ conference in Burundi
5-5:30am–Closing worship and prayer

So if The LORD wakes you up in the middle of the night, PRAY! You won’t regret it. And it will bless somebody else!

Matted Album–American Classic

This is a matted album which means that the photographs are on a page with a mat. The page can have one or multiple images but each image is separate and discrete from every other image on the page. The photograph is mounted onto a “liner” which looks like a border. The liner can be black, white, gray, silver, or gold. The mat actually surrounds the photograph mounted onto the liner. The mats come in black, white, gray, and cream. This album is permanently bound and neither the photographs nor the mats “slip-in” to fit inside the page. The pages of this American Classic are bound using archival tape that’s the same color as the mat. The edges of the pages can be gilded (like a Bible) in silver, gold, or black.

Matted Album-Aussie Original

This is also a matted album. Again, the photographs on the page are discrete and separate from one another. The main difference between this type of matted album and the American Classic matted album, is that here the photograph is mounted behind the mat. Just like when you get a photograph matted and framed to hang on your wall. The mat is partially covering the photograph about 1/4″ on all sides. There is no liner in this type of album but the mats come in black or white. You can also get black or white beveled mats. The black bevel mat’s opening reveals a white core and the white bevel mat’s opening reveals a black core. Here I have an album with black bevel mats. This album also has the really cool gatefold pages–they open like French doors! Very cool! ;-)
