T Minus 35

So in five brief weeks I’ll be heading to Burundi! I’m really excited–no time for nervousness at this point. It’s been such an amazing preparation process. I’m certain that going to Burundi will have a life-changing effect on me. But I honestly can say that I’ve already begun to change. So many “little things”, I realize, should not have a place in me….. Foregiveness is hard. But what about ASKING for forgiveness, hmmm? Try that! How easily we can brush over things when WE’ve been the offender. But when the tables are turned, we see things differently. Oh well, our hearts are deceitful–mine too! Which brings me right back to God’s healing and restoration work gong on in Burundi. I praise God that I get to go there! Many, many people responded with encouragement, prayers, and finances to help me. I thank ALL of you!

Some of our team members had been praying about an opportunity to help deaf, orphan children in Burundi. Well, there is a school for the deaf in Burundi; but the kids get out of school and go home for the summer two days before we arrive. But guess, what? The ones who don’t have a home to go to—the orphans—WILL be there! Hallelujah! So the people on the sign language team will actually be able to go and minister to these precious children. Another cool answered prayer: people in Burundi, The Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly known as Zaire), Rwanda, and Tanzania will be able to listen via radiobroadcast to all of the preaching and evangalistic crusades July 12-14th. So for all of you praying, please DON’T STOP! :-)

Wedding Celebration at Roma View

05.25.07 Kathy + Vinny

This was another first for me! Kathy and Vinny got married a couple of months ago on Paradise Island in The Bahamas. But they still needed a professional photographer for their wedding reception here in New York. Even though they had almost 40 people fly out to their Bahamian wedding, this reception was for 150. It was fun! Kathy’s dress was really cool. It was by Nicole Miller Bridal and it looked like a slip dress—but more fun. Check out the back! Kathy had told me that her husband Vinny was a professional boxer. Shhhh! Don’t tell his competitors! But this guy was as gentle as a lamb! I guess he’s different inside the ring…… Kathy and Vinny preferred guests to make donations to some very nice charitable organizations in lieu of gifts. The flowers, by Heavenly Florist in Ozone Park, and the music and video montages, by Mike of Music Flex set the scene. All the staff at Roma View were lovely to work with. I thought the dock they had right outside was really cute, so we opted to do some additional portraits there. Congratulations! :-)

Times Square Church Wedding

08.19.06 Angela + Aaron

::so now I’m resuming my archiving of Weddings and Portraits from 2006::
Angela and Aaron met with me in the fall of 2005. On that evening I got stuck in the elevator while they waited and prayed for me.
On their wedding day, Angela was dressed and ready for her portraits when I arrived because she wanted plenty of time for portraits. Aaron also had some cool ideas for his portrait time. Overall many tears were cried, the day was very fun, and everything went extremely fast.

05.19.07 Congratulations Lisa and Ray!

Lisa and Ray are getting married soon and we met up over the weekend. They’re really cool and we have LOTS in common. Ray is ridiculously funny! He made me laugh so hard I started choking on my own spit! I was okay though. I don’t know how Lisa’s gonna manage after the wedding when she’s living with this guy ;-) The LORD will help her…… After our hang out time at the Starbuck’s near me, I took these few photographs right outside. They hadn’t planned on being photographed, but don’t they look cute?

05.06.07 Asa, Alana, and Ariel

This turned into another playground photo shoot. The children didn’t really get too excited about any pictures until they got a chance to play :-) Then photos seemed like fun! There were plenty of other children there with their families because it was such a beautiful day. All the kids went again and again to slide down the spiral slide. My favorite things to watch: Asa climbing UP the regular slide (going down wasn’t challenging enough!) and the girls learning how to “pump” their legs to get some height while swinging on the swing. Part Two will be photographing the kids at their house later this summer….. Stay tuned!

05.05.07 marilina & ben engaged

I met Marilina on a freezing-cold, ice-storm day during the winter, but we immediately hit it off. We actually have quite a lot in common. And like so many of my clients, she’s a graphic artist too! After growing up and living in other places, Marilina and Ben both ended up back in NYC where they met. THEN they found out that they grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same high school! How funny is that?! We had great fun during this session and wound our way to the Upper East Side for dinner at a really cool restaurant, Land, where the crispy salmon is delicious :-)

05.05.07 aaron and jason

These guys are two brothers who know how to create fun anywhere, anytime. We met up at the park for some fun photographs. At first they were quiet, but in no time they were relaxed and exploring the park. We came across a playground and that was the end of the park! The boys were having too much fun–climbing, sliding, running, etc. I had too much fun photographing them to want to leave either! ;-)
