08.11.06 katrina and jon engaged

This was my second Engagement Session that day and I had to go all the way from upper Manhattan down to TriBeCa. It was worth it. As I was sitting there setting my camera and catching my breath I saw these two tall, skinny people waving at me. “It’s Katrina and Jon!” I’d met Katrina before but not Jon because he had been super busy studying for the bar exam (which he passed of course). So we went from TriBeCa, to the Pier, to SoHo taking a variety of images. Here are some of my favorites.

08.11.06 heather and jay engaged

Heather and Jay wanted to go to this really interesting park in upper Manhattan called Fort Tryon. It’s one of their favorite places to go AND it’s where Jay proposed to Heather! I had never even heard of it–but it’s near the cloisters. It had lots of cool architecture and walkways and we just worked freestyle throughout the park. Since both Heather and Jay are professional actors, they were naturally comfortable in front of a camera. Here’s some of what we got…..

Wedding at JW Marriott

08.05.06 Monica + Lenny

Finally Monica and Lenny’s wedding in DC! I came the day before to get situated and go to the rehearsal and dinner. It was just beautiful. The bridesmaids wore a really cute style in a pale, warm pink. They even had their own parasols! (I love doing portraits with interesting elements) I always like to try something new at each wedding and this time it was a group portrait of the family and bridal party taken from a balcony. We’d spied this out when Monica and I went to visit the reception site, The JW Marriott, in July after her bridal portraits. It really paid off because we also found a cool spot to do Monica and Lenny’s romantic portraits. From the rehearsal right through to the end of the reception, I could feel how much these two were loved……

Vegas Bye Bye

On the last day of the trade show at WPPI I met up with my roommate, Ifong, to say goodbye. Another friend, Ulysses, took this really cool picture of us standing in front of the Canon booth. He meant it as a joke but maybe it’s not. Hmmmmm…….. Taken with my D2x but I’m hanging around the Canon booth (AND Joe Buissink was speaking on the other side of the booth at the same time……) To be continued…..

Brooklyn Botanic Garden Wedding

01.06.07 Paige + Ned

Paige and Ned used to live in Brooklyn but now live in San Francisco–so psyched I’ll see them this weekend :-) For obvious reasons, they chose to have their wedding at the gorgeous Palm House at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. I met up with the whole crew in Manhattan at The Hotel Giraffe where everyone got dressed. Paige and Ned work in advertising and are both very creative, visually and in their writing. Everything was so beautiful! Paige’s bouquet was made entirely of Baby’s Breath. And they used Curly Willows instead of the typical floral arrangements as decorative accents. They also have a lot of fans! The Best Man gave the best “Best Man” speech I’d ever heard! Sweet and warm and ridiculously funny….. Here are just a few images from that day.

WPPI 2007, Las Vegas

Okay, I’m here in Las Vegas but it’s not for a wedding! I’m at the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International Convention and Trade Show. I joined WPPI in 2003 when I first formed my business so that I could learn as much as I could about being a wedding photographer. What I’ve gained over the years has completely exceeded my expectations! Learning about photography techniques, products, branding, marketing, legal “stuff”, achieving goals, and networking with other photographers has been amazing. I’m so happy to be out here again this year! I always come home with a boatload of new ideas and a clearer vision for wendy g photography. I’m also starting to meet and interact with some of my all-time favorite wedding photographers. I’m so blessed! If you’re one of my clients, get ready because I already have some cool new ideas! Can’t wait to try them out ;-)

Wedding at Dougleston Manor

03.24.07 Natalie + Corey

This past weekend I had the honor of photographing Natalie and Corey on their big day! We started at 7 am (really early for me) during the preparation time. Everything ran like clockwork for the entire day which made it more fun for everyone. Natalie looked like a classic bride in every way–beautifully transformed. She was still her usually relaxed and laid back self and thanking God all the way. Corey truly rejoiced over his bride and it was such fun watching their interaction. As I had said before, these two had been close friends and this day was full of laughter. They both have a heart for missions work and had the MOST creative theme incorporating all the nations where they had gone on missions trips. All the guests just poured out huge amounts of love on them which was a real testimony to how much love Natalie and Corey have poured out over the years……
